Volcanodle

Puzzle #103 was Shirinki.

The 3-km-diameter island of Shirinki is located west of the main Kuril Island arc and ~20 km WSW of Fuss Peak on Paramushir Island. The truncated andesitic cone has a 750-m-wide breached summit crater with multiple peaks around the rim and two lava domes near the headwall of the breached crater. No eruptions have been documented, but the summit domes were considered to be very young by Gorshkov (1970).

What the record says

Puzzle 103 ran on 20 Oct 2026 and the answer was Shirinki, played with 6 guesses against 8 columns. On the record: Country - Russia; Region - Northwestern Pacific Volcanic Regions; Type - stratovolcano; Tectonic setting - subduction; Elevation - 500-1500; Rock type - andesite; Historically observed - not-observed. 1 of the 8 columns is blank in the source (Last eruption), so nobody could score it either way.

Volcanodle builds its record from Global Volcanism Program, Smithsonian Institution (Venzke, E. (ed.), Volcanoes of the World, volcano.si.edu). The description above comes from the same place the game credits on every reveal: A verbatim excerpt of the volcano's GVP Geological Summary. The puzzle itself is still playable in the archive, and every answer that has been and gone is listed on the past-answers page.
