Volcanodle

Puzzle #100 was Mammoth Mountain.

Mammoth Mountain, a trachydacitic lava-dome complex, lies on the SW topographic rim of Long Valley caldera. It is west of the structural rim of the caldera and considered to represent a magmatic system distinct from other nearby volcanic regions (Hildreth, 2004). The latest magmatic eruptions took place about 57,000 years ago.

Volcanodle builds its record from Global Volcanism Program, Smithsonian Institution (Venzke, E. (ed.), Volcanoes of the World, volcano.si.edu). The description above comes from the same place the game credits on every reveal: A verbatim excerpt of the volcano's GVP Geological Summary. The puzzle itself is still playable in the archive, and every answer that has been and gone is listed on the past-answers page.
